(Additional Writing Requirement, see below)
John Stadter is a 1973 graduate of Seaside High School. He was an average student, more interested in “social activities” than scholarship; content to work as a baker at Harrison’s Bakery. Two years after graduation, following a breakup with a girlfriend, he was driving back from Portland and saw a sign that would forever change his life, “Lewis & Clark College Next Right”. Frustrated with the direction of his life, he took the exit and enrolled. Using summer jobs, work study, loans, grants and scholarships he graduated in 1979 with a double major in Economics and Business Administration. Over the ensuing years he developed entrepreneurial skills in early stage tech companies. Seeking to control his own destiny he started three different companies before finding success in the Call Center industry; founding a company that grew to more than 2000 colleagues before selling it in 2019. This scholarship is to support a student who is committed to radically changing the direction of their life.
