Purpose: Support and promote young leaders from the Seaside School District planning to pursue environmental, marine science, or ornithological studies. The intent of the scholarship is to encourage local youth involvement in the Haystack Rock Awareness Program (HRAP) and Friends of Haystack Rock (FOHR), and support and encourage their education efforts in these areas of study.
- Graduating Senior from Seaside High School
- Candidate plans to pursue studies and degree in environmental, marine science, or ornithological studies
- Attends a community college or 4 year university or college
- Candidate has volunteered and/or worked for HRAP or FOHR for at least 50 hours in the past 12-24 months
- Candidate has demonstrated leadership and interest in these areas of study, during their time at Seaside High School as evidenced by their extracurricular activities and/or recommendations from science teacher(s).
- Past scholarship recipients can reapply, annually, for additional scholarship funds for an additional 3 years (1 recipient can apply 3 additional years). Criteria for former scholarship recipients will be defined by FOHR within the next few months.
