This scholarship is awarded in memory of Liese. Born and raised in Kansas and a graduate of Emporia State University, earning a BS in Education. After Liese graduated she held teaching positions in Kansas and when I was assigned to St Louis we moved and she was employed by the St Louis County Library and retired after 20 years.
I was born and raised in Missouri. When I finished my enlistment in the USAF the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) hired me and sent me to Emporia Kansas to continue my Air Traffic Control training in Oklahoma City. This is how we met. I was a pilot, and served as an air traffic controller for 10 years, then finished my BS in Aeronautics and was hired at McDonnell Douglas, St Louis. McDonnell later merged with The Boeing Company. I worked on a variety of aircraft design programs and retired from Boeing in 2013 and moved to Seaside. I have been working with 4th graders and supporting the High School Robotics , Team 3673.
We support education and hope this scholarship fund will help some SHS students reach their goals.

- GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Financial need
- Available to current high school students and previous SHS graduates who may not have had the opportunity to pursue more education immediately following high school.
- Attending a Public University, College, Community College, trade school or specialty education training program
- This scholarship is renewable for 3 more years (4 years total) (1 recipient can apply 3 additional years). To be eligible for renewal you must: maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher, have a declared major, provide one recommendation letter from a college professor, advisor, volunteer, or work supervisor in their field or a related field.
